a tent....

So, for a while I would make a "tent" for Sterilng with sheets over a table and chairs, but she wanted me and Elle to play under it with her (mostly me). And it was much too small for all of us to fit under and read books...so I had this crazy idea to make a big tent.

I found a cute sheet set on clearance and cut it a bit and sewed the two sheets together. I didn't have a pattern so I just guessed. I had old fringe that I sewed on the opening and yarn on the bottom to tie it around chairs and such to help it spread out. Then, I attached a loop at the top and I had some left over heavy chain sitting around so that's what it is hung by in the ceiling. It turned out pretty cute...but later I got an old mosquito net from my parent's that I will use the hoop from as an insert, which will help it hang better instead of using the chairs inside like in this picture.
Either way, it works! And we even made paper stars to hang inside like the tent in the movie "Holiday". What a cute movie....and the tent in that movie is really sweet. if you've seen that movie you know what I'm talking about.

We are enjoying this fun tent. Great for reading books in.....and maybe even a nap. :)
