We had planned a vacation weeks ago, before the chicken pox issue in our house. It was one of those things where you pay in advance, and there is no refund if it is not 30 days in advance. Ugh. So, Ruby was almost over the chicken pox. And then the day we left for our trip, we noticed Sophie started with them while we were on the road. At this point there was nothing we could do. We didn't want to loose all our money and we figured we might as well deal with it at the beach. At least we would have a nice view while we had to tough it out.
So, I took the older 2 out to the beach a few times...we were staying in a house across the street.
And we enjoyed the pool in the back yard.
It was still nice to get away. Even if we were dealing with this yucky virus. Brandon and I took turns staying in with Sophie while she was sick. And she actually didn't feel too sick. It was mostly just the annoying sores.
My parents live about 45 mins away from the ocean so they came to stay with us too. And Brandon and I got to take a walk on the beach.
By the end of the week Sophie was getting better and then last but not least Elle got it. Thankfully hers was the least of them all! So, we headed to my parents after our time was up in the vacation home, and let Elle get over it there before we had to drive 18+ hrs back to Kansas City.
All in all, I'm thankful we got a chance to be at the beach. A vacation is always welcome. Although, we could have definitely done without the sickness. And don't worry. I cleaned everything before we left that house. There's no way I would feel ok with leaving nasty sick germs behind. I guess the unexpected happens sometimes. This was our vacation 2014. One we will probably never forget. At least I know Brandon and I won't.
