Back in June, for Elle's birthday I wanted to get her a lovely dress up outfit from here. But instead I just decided to make her a couture princess dress. I found a velvet sleeveless leotard at a second hand store and it was brand new with the tags still on it. I cut off the bottom half and sewed on some silky fabric that I had from my old stash to make the lining. Then I added some tule over the top. I have a few special pieces of material that I have collected here and there from different stores and I have had this mesh fabric for years that has sequins and stars sew in. I've never really known what to do with it (and I only had 1/2 of a yard) and this was the perfect time to use it. I hand sewed it over top of the velvet leotard on the top. And then finished it off with a velvet ribbon. It's so sweet. I would totally make one of these for myself. Ha! She really likes it...so much that she keeps it hanging most of the time and takes really good care of it.
