Being a mom brings some proud moments and also the not so proud moments. It's a juggling act. It has challenged my multi tasking skills in a way that no other job has. And each child is different, even though they are raised in the same house as all their siblings, with the same set of parents. Each one has special places in my heart with special memories.
They have all had stages in the early years where they would find something that would be their thing to bring comfort, especially when they were sleepy. With Sterling, she loved to twirl my hair (and Brandon's when it was long). Elle always loved us to pat her back. Ruby loves shush noises the best and to be held. Sophie has always loved to play with my necklace ever since she was about 6 months old and could grab onto things. Although, Sophie is getting older (I can't believe she is going to be 4 this year) and is growing out of this phase, from time to time she still asks me if she can play with my necklace. The other week Brandon grabbed my phone and got a few pictures in the moment. I'm so glad he did.
They may not be the most flattering angles with every hair in place and my dress bunched up on my belly, but candid photos are usually my most favorite when capturing a real moment. And I think it's quite beautiful. Motherhood, in all its unflattering angles, messy hair and wrinkled clothes can be quite beautiful.
