A few weeks ago we made flower crowns. We had lots of left over flowers from birthdays and this was one of the things I wanted to do with the girls on our "summer to do list". We have made bracelets and flower crowns out of dandelions before (see here for an older post), but we used bigger flowers this time. And I will say it was a bit more difficult for the girls with the bigger flowers. They mostly picked the ones they wanted and helped me measure. The smaller flowers (like dandelions) are easier for them to tie. Since I was doing most of the tying these are not as intricate as I would like because that would take forever, but these were fun and they liked them.
I wanted to get a few pictures with them all wearing them and the two littler ones were being just too cute. I ended up taking quite a bit of pictures and could hardly choose my favorites.
I'm so glad I got several of each of them. These will be especially sweet to look at later on down the road when they are older.
Sometimes I can hardly believe we have 4 girls. These sisters are such a gift to each other, and each of them brighten mine and Brandon's heart in their own special way.
With the left over flowers we decided to do some petal face painting. I got the idea from this lovely blog I stumbled upon one day. (You can see here one example of her daughters decorated with petals). She has lots of creative ideas of things to do with children, and most of them are things you can find around the house or outdoors. I'm inspired by how she uses creativity in the normal everyday surroundings to teach and just for fun.
You use a little bit of honey in a bowl for everyone to dip and dab wherever they want the petals. Then stick the petals on top of the honey and it's like glue. They thought this was really fun. The best part the girls enjoyed the most was when they were done and they hopped into the bath tub. All the lovely petals filled the water and they thought this was great. They kept commenting on how pretty and colorful it was.
