REFASHIONED LINEN DRESS

One of my hobbies is to go thrifting. I always like to find a good deal. I like to find things that I can turn into something I am imagining in my head. And I like that it's kind of like hunting for "treasure". Something someone else thought was old or useless I can see as something cute and interesting. Plus, I'm all about not spending a lot of money but still enjoying things.

So here's an oversized 100% linen (in case I haven't mentioned I really like linen) tunic shirt. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do with it but knew I wanted to buy it because I could do tons with the fabric (a skirt or jumper for the girls, a dress for one of their dolls with the scraps)....and it's way cheaper than buying by the yard somewhere. Also, it's already nice and soft, and worn in.
After thinking about it a while and trying it on I decided to just make the alterations really simple and keep it as a shift style dress for myself. Here's a few dresses that I had thought were cute, as inspiration in shape and color (see here , here , here , and here). I like this simple style and its very comfortable to wear out, or around the house when I want a cute alternative to pjs while going about my normal "momma duties".
All I had to do for this dress was remove the buttons and loops on the sides with a seam ripper. I took in the sides just a touch and sewed up the slits. I was thinking about hemming the sleeves but I actually ended up liking the rolled sleeves even better. This was a super easy repurposed project. The rest of the shirt just happened to be a good length for me as a dress. It pays to be short sometimes.

The color is almost a denim blue and in certain light it looks more indigo, which is great because I was really liking some of the denim dresses I've seen in this style as well.

The last two pictures I took with movement just for fun because I just really like photography and playing around with different angles and such. I also added a little filter to make it more interesting and the dress color came out more vibrant.

Sewing is fun! It's been a hobby of mine for a long time, and I love when I get a chance to make things here and there as a creative outlet. I think it's good to have a hobby, especially being a full time mom. Everyone needs some time to break away from the norm (no matter who you are) and just do something you enjoy every now and then. That's what this is for me. Hopefully, if you are reading this, you will be inspired to go do something you enjoy this week.
