REFASHIONED THRIFT STORE DRESS

As I had shared in the previous post, I'm a little behind in my sharing things I (we) have been up to. This is the most recent refashioned project that I did a little over a month ago when it was still warm enough to wear without a sweater and tights. Luckily it works both ways and can be for warmer or cooler weather. I'm not sure if this before picture does it justice but this was a HUGE muu muu type dress. It kind of reminded me of a house dress, but I really liked the print (and the pockets). I usually see something online or just have an idea in my head that inspires me and with time and hunting I end up finding something similar that would work. Here's a few dresses for my inspiration for this one (see here  here here , and here).

This was actually a really easy fix (which I love). I knew that I wanted to go for a very loose style like in the photos above that inspired me, so all I did was hemmed it to the proper length that I wanted. I thought about hemming the sleeves but couldn't decide so instead I just rolled them for now because I liked it... and if I wanted to change it later I could. No harm done!

I think most dresses with deep pockets are fun...for me or my girls. Sewing is such a hobby for me, but repurposing is right up my alley because it's usually fairly cheap and much faster than starting from scratch (which takes me forever these days...so the quicker the better). This was a good find and only cost a couple of dollars.

Having four girls has changed me a bit. They love any reason to get dressed up, and it's become more fun (again) for me as well. They are so good for me! They inspire me. They remind me to totally embrace my femininity. After all, I did birth all four of them. You can't get much more feminine than that (child bearing and all)!
And I must say, it does wonders for this mama to get showered, fix my hair, and put on something that I enjoy. I don't do it everyday, but I feel a world of difference when I do. And taking pictures with these little ones every now and then is pretty fun too!
